Let’s Collaborate!

Haydee Yanez grew up in the border town of Tijuana, Mexico, enjoying the richness, colors, and flavors that both Californias have to offer. She studied graphic design at Universidad Iberoamericana and went on to design and illustrate a variety of bilingual content—from hospitality materials to children’s books. When she’s not designing, she spends time developing her own brand of Mexican icons, watching old movies, or cooking along with her dog Friducha.

Melanie Romero,
Editor at Lil’ Libros
“Creative, eclectic, and revolutionary: those are the skills at the very heart of who Haydee is, both as a designer and as a person. As Senior Designer, Haydee led the design department at Lil’ Libros, collaborating on both book and non-book projects with Editorial to bring creative visions physically to life. Serving as Editor of the company, I first-hand witnessed Haydee’s expertise in children’s book publishing and passion for graphic design. She executed her book and product designs with precision, timeliness, devotion, and vision, and her hard work is forever present in the design & format of the award-winning titles of Wepa (2023 Tejas Star Reading List) and Mi papá es un agrícola (2023 Pura Belpré Illustration Honor). Haydee has the Midas touch when it comes to guiding amateur and professional illustrators in the artistic process, as well as when it comes to designing what publishers consider to be a golden book. Haydee would be a golden addition to any book publisher and/or design firm in search of a dual leader and team player with an expert history in the field and unmatched creative innovation to stay on top of the trends, but also to design outside the lines.”

“Shining a spotlight on the very talented Graphic Designer / Art Director Haydee Yanez.
Haydee has worked extensively on commercial and award-winning children’s books that I believe will become modern classics, including but not limited to the The New York Public Library 2023 Best Book of the Year “Wepa” by J de laVega and the American Library Association Pura Belpré Medal Honor Book for illustration, “Mi Papa es un Agrícola” written by J. Roman Pérez Varela and illustrated by José B. Ramírez.”
